Metroid Metal Live in Asheville, NC was amazing…for those who didn’t get to go you missed an awesome show. Here is a horrible video (my good camera crapped out on me) filled with just a taste of what you missed:

I gotta say, the lasers used later in the show were a very nice touch…though personally I thought there was a tab too much smoke…but that’s just me.

Not Metroid, but a shout out to By Morning as it was their last show as a group. I wish them luck in their future endeavors.

Metroid Metal: New Track

I have actually be sitting on this for a day or two (due to techincal difficulties) but the guys over @ Metroid Metal dropped a new track on awesome new track on Thrusday. I would have posted this up earlier but I was getting reports of the Metroid Metal site being down…apparently because of the new track (which can be picked up here) of the ending theme to Super Metroid.

Whatever the problems, the site seems to be fine now and the song is up for grabs. It’s quite a listen and like the rest of the Metroid Metal collection is very much worth the download.

Everything around here will be in flux for the next few days due to stupidity of one of our staff…myself actually. I broke one of the cardinal rules of website administration “upgrade not, before a back up is done” and due to my momentary (HA!) moment of stupidity the site is in shambles.

That being said, we are determined to pick up the pieces and have already gotten off to a great start. In the next few weeks as we began the recovery phase, if you happen to notice a broken link, out of place item or anything that looks weird…drop us a line and we will look into it.

Once again I apologize and promise it will not happen again and thank all of you for reading and a pre-emptive thank you.

Child’s Play

While not exactly Metroid News, I would like to share that a charity that we are a strong supporter of, Child’s Play, is back. Since 2003, the gaming community worldwide has banded together through the Child’s Play charity and over 5 million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals across North America and the world have been collected since.

It looks like this year; they have continued expanding across the country and the globe with new Hospitals, and a cross-section of facilities you’ve been directed to over the years. Just a reminder that we are now less than two weeks away from the Metroid Metal show in Asheville, NC. It’s looking like it is going to be a truely fantastic show so anyone who can that is interested should come on out to see them live.

As far as we know we are going to be there as well so it should be fun times for all!

Metroid Recon 3yrs old

Congratulations to Metroid Recon. Like Metroid Database, Recon is celebrating a birthday…while not as long as 13 years, Recon’s 3 years is not something to shake your head at.

We hope that they have many more ahead of them.

GT TV episode 227 part 2

Well, unfortunately no real info on Metroid: Other M, but still a good watch if not for anything else than Reggie. He has an interesting charisma about him…he is far more entertaining to listen to than most associated with other console companies.

If you are interested in the newest Zelda game or the newest Super Mario Game…this episode was for you…however if you were looking for Metroid info such as us…nothing. No surprise really, I was suspecting that there wouldn’t be any real news however but I can dream can’t I?

Looks like the next episode of GTTV on Spike this week is going to be devoted to Nintendo and their plans for 2010. The promo up now on Gametrailers mentions speaking with Reggie Fils-Aimé, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, about Nintendo’s plans for 2010 while playing some video of Metroid: Other M…so maybe we will get some updated info? Probably not, but Reggie is a interesting individual so it should still be an interesting watch.

Metroid Database continues their 13th anniversary celebrations by introducing the “Make-a-Metroid Contest”. According to the contest page, to celebrate the 13th anniversary of being the Metroid fanbases number one source for all things Metroid, through the “holiday season of 2009″ they are having a contest. All you have to do is make a Metroid out of whatever you want…

Looks like it could be fun. Can’t wait to see the winning submission.
